02 · How it works
Scan. Review. Clean up.
Three steps, in this order, every time. Ouste tells you what will happen before it happens.
Scan
Ouste measures eight categories and gives every item a level. Scanning changes nothing.

Review
Every item has a level and one sentence on what removing it changes. You take out what you want to keep.
Review before cleanup
6 items. This is exactly what will happen, in order.
Caches and build files. They rebuild themselves.
Rebuilt on the next build in Xcode.
~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData Packages download again on the next install.
~/.npm/_cacache · ~/Library/pnpm/store The next image build will take longer.
docker builder prune No activity for 41 days. pnpm install recreates it.
~/code/hopali/node_modules Still on the disk until 18 Oct. Not counted as freed.
Branch merged into main on 2 Oct. The branch stays in the repository.
~/code/hopali/.claude/worktrees/feat-stripe They can no longer be resumed. Memory keeps an archive.

- A 7-day quarantine
- Anything you might regret stays on disk for 7 days, restorable in one click from Quarantine.
- A receipt for every cleanup
- It separates space actually freed from what is still in quarantine or in the Trash.
- A log
- Every operation is written, line by line, to a file you can open.
~/Library/Logs/ouste/operations.jsonl - Everything stays on your Mac
- Scans, logs and conversations stay on your disk. Only the Plus licence checks your subscription status.
Never touched: agent memory, credentials, .git internals, system folders, the folder of a running process.

Agents start again every week. Two tools take care of it between cleanups.
The Guardian
Three rules, off by default. Every action is written to the log, with at most one notification per rule per day.
Stop a dev server started by an agent session that ended more than 60 min.
On Sundays, quarantine the rebuildable caches of projects with no activity for more than 30 days.
Notify me when swap goes above 4 GB.

07 · Questions
Frequently asked questions.
Can Ouste delete something important?
Not without your review: every cleanup goes through a sheet listing what will be deleted, quarantined or left in place. Caution items are never preselected and are confirmed one by one.
What does Ouste never touch?
Agent memory, credentials, .git internals, system folders and the working folder of a running process. These items are marked Protected and cannot be selected.
Which agents are covered?
Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and Cursor are scanned in detail: conversations, caches, worktrees. OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Windsurf and Cline are inventoried, and each new agent is added with a catalogue entry.
Does Ouste run on an Intel Mac?
Yes. Ouste requires macOS 14 or later and runs on Apple silicon and Intel.
What data leaves my Mac?
No scan data: files, paths, conversations and logs stay on your disk. With Plus, the licence only exchanges your subscription status, your billing email and an anonymous identifier for the Mac.
How do I cancel Plus?
In the app, Settings › Ouste Plus › Manage subscription, at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and the free features stay.
Can I get a refund?
The 7-day trial lets you decide before you pay. After a first payment, write to contact@ouste.space within 14 days and the current period is refunded.
How is it different from CleanMyMac?
CleanMyMac cleans generic Mac caches. Ouste knows coding agents: their conversations, their worktrees and branch status, the servers left by an ended session, with the consequence of every deletion written in one sentence.
Scan your Mac.
Scanning changes nothing. You decide afterwards.
